Chili Wing Cookoff Returning to Silver Birches to Benefit Hospitality Workers

The return of the annual Chili and Wing Cookoff at the Waterfront at Silver Birches is nearly upon us, with the event scheduled for Sunday March 5th starting at noon.

The cookoff is returning after a three-year hiatus due to COVID, according to Senior Director of Marketing for Settlers Hospitality Sarah O’Fee, “We’re really excited to welcome chili and wing back. COVID kind of cancelled big events like this so we’re really excited to bring all of these local restaurants and people back together.”

Chefs from local restaurants, schools, and organizations as well as at home cooks will compete for the title of Best Chili and Best Wings. Senior Director of Food and Beverage for Settlers Hospitality TJ Slain says, “We have local individuals, lots of restaurants. There’s 24 contestants right now, the Dock at Wallenpaupack, Glass Wine.Bar.Kitchen., Settlers Inn, the Chop House, Frog Town Chop House. We have live music, a 50/50 raffle, lots of wings, lots of chili, and a good time.”

The event will be MC’d by our very own George Schmitt. A panel of guest judges will select the winners. First place winners will receive a $100 cash prize and a trophy. Tickets cost $30 for adults and $15 for children and entitle guests to sample each wing and chili offering. All proceeds from the Cookoff will go towards the Settlers Cares Foundation, a new local non-profit established to provide a tax-free grant to eligible hospitality workers effected by an unexpected life event such as a natural disaster, illness or death.
