The annual Chili and Wing Cookoff at the Waterfront at Silver Birches returned yesterday after a three year hiatus with chefs from local restaurants, schools, and organizations, as well as at home cooks competing for the title of Best Chili and Best Wings. In first place for chili determined by the judges was Wallenpaupack Brewing Company, in second was the Lodge at Woodloch, and in third was Key Foods in Milford. For the People’s Choice chili, Chris McQueen’s Cosmic Charlie’s Chili was in first, with Gresham’s Chop House in Second, and Forest Volunteer Fire Department in third. In first place for the judges’ pick of the best wings was Crazy Country Club, in second place was Mountainhouse Tavern, and in third was Key Foods. For the People’s Choice wings the first place winner was Drafts Bar & Grill, in second was FrogTown Chophouse, and in third was the Lodge at Woodloch. The event raised $5,000 for local hospitality workers through the newly developed Settlers Cares Foundation.
